Airmont, the specialist in optimized inflight streaming solutions, has announced a strategic relationship with DIRECTV IN FLIGHT to bring JetVision by DIRECTV™ to private aircraft. This cooperation enables passengers on private flights to enjoy world-class live entertainment — from live major sporting events and breaking news to movies and TV shows — with the same ease and quality they expect at home.
Live television is a huge draw for the inflight experience, especially news and sports. The DIRECTV packages offer a broad range, including different selections for US and international flights. With this partnership Airmont can deliver that content to its end users, boosting DIRECTV’s reach in an efficient manner.
JetVision by DIRECTV is an IPTV solution that brings world-class entertainment to private aircraft, featuring premium live programming including breaking news, exciting sports, weather, TV shows and movies with no additional equipment needed. Passengers can watch live programming on cabin displays through application streaming players like Roku and Apple TV+, as well as on personal devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones via the Airmont Player and Airmont Player+application or directly via an internet browser.
Through its relationship with DIRECTV, Airmont will integrate JetVision by DIRECTV into its service portfolio and ensure a seamless passenger entertainment experience by applying its proprietary optimization technologies. These technologies help reduce bandwidth consumption per stream, minimize the number of live feeds opened on the internet, and guarantee smooth playback from takeoff to landing. Operators and private aircraft owners will also benefit from stream supervision tools, which allow them to monitor user experience for improved support efficiency. Airmont service is enabled on the aircraft through compatible onboard avionics such as, among others, the AVDS Node by Innovative Advantage.
As passenger expectations evolve, live content has become a defining feature of the inflight experience. Sports fans don’t want to miss a decisive game simply because they are flying, and today’s travelers increasingly expect real-time engagement rather than static, pre-recorded content. By combining Airmont’s optimization with DIRECTV’s live programming, JetVision by DIRECTV sets a new standard for inflight entertainment, driving passenger satisfaction and providing operators with a powerful differentiator.
“Passengers expect the same level of connectivity and live engagement in the air as they do on the ground. With JetVision by DIRECTV now part of our service offering, we ensure that business aviation clients can enjoy this experience, smoothly and reliably, without compromise,” said Jean-François Gault, Executive Chairman, Airmont.
“Live TV – especially sports and news – has become a defining part of the inflight entertainment experience for business travelers who want to stay connected. Working with Airmont allows us to further extend JetVision into the business aviation market, helping passengers catch the live TV moments that matter most,” said Kimberly de Flesco, head of aviation strategy for DIRECTV IN FLIGHT.
