Air Arabia is going fleet-wide with wireless entertainment. The carrier will expand its deployment of the Panasonic Avionics eXW solution to more than 170 planes.
Through our eXW-backed ‘Sky Time’ portal, our customers can continue to enjoy personalised content streamed on their personal devises, further enriching their journey while flying Air Arabia.
– Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia
The carrier currently operates six A321LRs fitted with the eXW platform. With this agreement the carrier intends to expand that to include Air Arabia’s Airbus A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR fleets. Some 120 planes are expected to be delivered from Airbus with the solution installed. Another 52 aircraft will be equipped under a retrofit program. Of particular note, these 52 would appear to be a win away from AirFi, which announced in 2019 it had won a contract to deliver services on 50 planes for Air Arabia.
Branded as “Sky Time” on board, the wireless entertainment experience will include a range of offerings from Panasonic Avionics. These include the Arc moving map, as well as PAC’s Insights data analytics service and the OneMedia advertising platform.
Speaking to the partnership, Ken Sain, Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, noted, “Wireless IFE remains a critical component of many airlines’ strategy. eXW will create a unique experience that combines passenger entertainment, digital apps, and onboard retail into a truly unique passenger experience with a competitive total cost of ownership and a compelling ROI.”
