Cathay Pacific will serve Dallas-Fort Worth beginning next summer. The carrier continues to add capacity back to the North America market, now including service 4x weekly to the hub of its partner American Airlines.
Connecting the cultural and commercial opportunities between DFW and Hong Kong with a nonstop flight is crucial for these two globally influential regions. We are excited to welcome Cathay Pacific as our newest international airline, with service that will grow DFW’s connectivity throughout Asia and beyond. – Sean Donohue, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer
CX898 will depart Hong Kong at 4:05pm (local time) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in DFW at 5:55pm on the same day (thanks, time zones!). The return trip will depart DFW at 11:55pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Hong Kong two days later at 5:05am. The flight times are optimized for connectivity to and from Cathay’s mainland China network and other destinations in Asia.
The flights will operate on an A350-1000 featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes of service, beginning 24 April 2025.
Cathay Pacific Senior Vice President for the Americas Chris van den Hooven said: “It is with tremendous pride and excitement that we announce the arrival of Cathay Pacific at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in 2025, a major milestone in the airline’s growth within North America. Our new flight is a further testament to the airline’s mission to connect passengers to our home city of Hong Kong and beyond.”
By April 2025 Cathay will operate 108 weekly flights from its Hong Kong hub to North America, an increase from the current 88 trips. That will include:
- 3x daily service to New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles
- 2x daily service to Vancouver
- 13x weekly to Toronto
- Daily service to Chicago and Boston
The carrier has not, however, resumed service to Newark nor to Washington-Dulles. Both routes operated prior to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Adding service to DFW instead of restoring those routes demonstrates the shift in traffic demand, focusing on partner hubs for onward connections rather than trying to fill planes with local demand at outstations.
The new route joins oneworld partner Fiji Airways in adding connectivity at DFW, announced for launch later this year. It also replaces American’s operations on DFW-HKG, which ran from 2014 to early 2020 and did not resume.
