A new look is coming for Delta Air Lines. The carrier announced a fleet-wide cabin retrofit, including fresh seating materials, a renewed color palette, decorative motifs and signature branding, all focused on bringing a more premium feel to passengers and a consistent experience across the fleet.
As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations. – Mauricio Parise, Vice President – Customer Experience Design
The DeltaOne cabin will see a fabric refresh, with a new wool/nylon blend for the seats. In addition to breathability for passenger comfort, the carrier expects weight savings from the new covers.

Long-haul cabins will also see memory foam cushions installed, even in economy class.

The cabins will also feature “signature stitching and accent stripes,” along with seat tags and dividers to distinguish between cabins.
The new cabin will debut on a 757 operating domestic and short-haul international routes later this year. That the 757s are being retrofit at all is an interesting choice, given their expected retirement towards the end of the decade. But it fits with the company’s stated goal “to create a singular experience across our diverse fleet, not just a unique subset. When customers step onboard, they will know what to expect and what to look forward to, regardless of the type of plane that their flight is operated on.”

The first widebody to fly with the new cabin will be an A350, expected to enter service refreshed in “early 2025.” The carrier notes that “Additional aircraft will receive the new cabin design as Delta’s schedule and operation allows over the next few years.”

Excellent to see them dumping the cheap non-breathable pleather junk for widebody business class seating. Couldn’t believe that they installed it in the first place: extremely uncomfortable.
Good to see the progress!
