What will three new senior executives and a tripling of office space bring about for FlightPath3D‘s inflight maps? Company president Duncan Jackson sees an opportunity “far broader” than the core map experience, “backed by broad data resources and AI-driven analysis, to strengthen how airlines and operators engage passengers throughout the journey.”
Driving the interactive and AI-focused work is Ross Derham, who joins the company as Director of Product Management. With a pedigree including stints at Meta and Boeing, Derham’s experience covers aerospace and immersive user experiences in a unique way. He is expected to focus on various efforts to include more AI-based content to add interactivity to the map experience and to ensure it can seamlessly scale across thousands of installed aircraft.
The company’s BizAv group is also getting a boost, with Howie Lewis joining as VP, Business Aviation. A major challenge on that front comes from ever increasing demand for personalization of content, including on the map. As with the interactive features on commercial aircraft, scalability is critical as FlightPath3D grows its install base. Lewis’s history at Gogo, Airshow, and EMS Satcom is expected to help him and the company navigate those challenges.
On the commercial front Prashant Vyas joined the company as VP, Middle East to deliver dedicated sales and account management in the region. Vyas brings senior leadership experience across the global IFE and connectivity ecosystem to the company, including roles at Thales, Safran Passenger Innovations, and Panasonic Avionics.
Separately, the company also tripled its footprint with a move to its new headquarters in Irvine, California. In addition to increased engineering space, the new office adds engineering labs and client collaboration areas, supporting product development, client-driven innovation, and customer demonstrations.
“We are constantly pushing boundaries on what is possible with the inflight map experience and are committed to continuing that innovative streak,” added CEO Boris Veksler. “Our expanded facilities and strengthened executive bench ensure we can meet the evolving needs of airlines, business aviation operators, and OEM partners worldwide.”
