Gogo Business Aviation reached another milestone with its AVANCE L5 platform this month. The company announced that its air to ground 4G connectivity solution secured type certifications for the full complement of Gulfstream business jets.
The Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) secured include the following Gulfstream airframes:
- G650/650ER
- G600
- G550/GV/SP
- G450/GIV/SP
- G280
In addition to the availability of these additional aircraft for installation Gogo marked the 500th install of the AVANCE L5 platform. The 200th install occurred just over five months ago, giving Gogo a solid installation pace for the new ATG connectivity solution. The L5 version is joined by AVANCE L3 for smaller general aviation aircraft, including prop-driven aircraft. That portfolio also posted strong gains recently in both installations and commitments.

Gogo’s BizAv solutions currently face minimal competition in the market. SmartSky in progressing towards a launch of its competing ATG solution though that is now delayed to early 2019. Gogo’s ability to secure additional frames before SmartSky goes live is helpful to the continued profitability of that segment, though it remains a large potential market of thousands of uncommitted frames. Adding the Gulfstream types to its offerability helps Gogo to continue its market domination pending SmartSky’s entry into service.
Gulfstream offers AVANCE L5 installation at locations in Savannah and Brunswick, Ga., Westfield, Mass., St. Louis, Mo., Dallas, Texas, Long Beach, Calif., and Appleton, Wis.
