India’s IndiGo is trailing wireless inflight entertainment this summer, powered by AirFi’s portable IFE solution. The three-month program, available through the IndiGo mobile app under the name HELLO 6E, will be available on flights between Delhi and Goa.
IndiGo is on a journey of continuous digitization, and we believe AirFi, as the global market-leader in streaming IFE technology, is uniquely placed to help the carrier achieve its goal of catering to evolving passenger expectations. – Job Heimerikx, AirFi CEO
The streaming entertainment library for IndiGo is powered by two content partners, Mumbai-based Shermaroo Contentino and California-based West Entertainment. It will provide a carefully curated library boasting 200 hours of Indian and Hollywood movies, TV shows and music.
The platform will also feature offerings unique to IndiGo, including two airline-branded games developed by Gladi8or. Gladi8or and AirFi have previously pushed the idea of branded and sponsored games as a way to drive increased revenue while boosting engagement. The IndiGo trial gives the companies a chance to prove that, among other use cases for the streaming media platform.
AirFi will also deliver an inflight map product on the HELLO 6E portal. It will include a treasure hunt experience, again boosting gamification of the platform to drive passenger engagement.
The service launched on 1 May 2024, though the supplier was not disclosed at the time.
