Panasonic Avionics is teaming up with Flightradar24 to bring more data to the inflight map. Panasonic’s Arc maps will be able to display the location of, and details about, other aircraft in the sky as part of the deal.
The companies released a short video demonstrating the functionality on Monday:
The offering will initially power what PAC is calling the Live Fleet View. It shows all aircraft in the air for the current airline.
Passengers can also “visit” another aircraft through the interface, switching to Arc’s flight deck or window views of that trip rather than their own.
The move follows on a similar deal between FlightPath3D and FlightAware to integrate flight tracking data into the FP3D map platform. FlightPath3D’s initial implementation is now flying with United Airlines, offering a “Control Tower” view when planes are on the ground.
