As Türksat grows into the inflight connectivity space it needs more capacity across Europe. Eutelsat will contribute to that effort under a new multi-million-dollar, multi-year agreement. The deal calls for Türksat to leverage multiple beams on Eutelsat’s KONNECT VHTS satellite to provide services to airlines.
Türksat has been strengthening its capability to offer Aero services in in-flight connectivity verticals by expanding its reach via KONNECT VHTS. This agreement will enable us to provide more reliable and uninterrupted IFC services for our Aero clients that have so many destinations over Europe. I believe that this cooperation will pave the way for new opportunities that will empower Türksat as one of the leading service providers in IFC market.
– Ahmet Hamdi ATALAY, General Manager of Türksat
Türksat is deeply involved in the IFC plans for Turkish Airlines and AJet. And both airlines made significant announcements on that front last year. AJet plans a fleet-wide rollout, managed by TCI Aircraft Interiors. Turkish plans a shift to free connectivity on board, with TCI and Turksat playing a significant role in the process.
Both of those programs should benefit from the increased capacity made available through KONNECT VHTS.
KONNECT VHTS entered into service in October 2023 to address the European fixed broadband and in-flight connectivity verticals. It offers Ka-band capacity of 500 Gbps.
