Intelsat will deliver inflight internet to Condor’s fleet of new single-aisle aircraft. The A320neo and A321neo planes will offer passenger connectivity on routes across Europe and North Africa as they join the carrier’s fleet in the coming years.
We are looking forward to extending our WiFi product “FlyConnect” to our short- and medium-haul routes, thus making sure our passengers can also stay connected above the clouds.
– Stanislaw Conradi, Product Manager IFEC & Aircraft Cabin Systems
The solution, which entered service last month on the carrier’s initial delivery last, run on Intelsat‘s 2Ku solution. This uses the ThinKom ThinAir Ku3030 antenna terminal. The system is installed by Airbus as a line-fit offering.
Condor has orders for 40 A320neo and A321neo aircraft, planned for delivery through 2028.
“Intelsat’s 2Ku service will deliver streaming-quality connectivity for passengers even in busy European airspace,” noted Dave Bijur, Senior Vice President of Commercial Aviation. “The factory installation means that Condor will be able to get the new Airbus planes in service faster and passengers will enjoy the reliable and proven Intelsat inflight connectivity.”
The 2Ku terminal is forward compatible with Intelsat’s next tranche of planned satellites, slated for launch beginning in 2026.
The Condor deal is one of two Intelsat announced with on the first day of Aircraft Interiors Expo 2024 in Hamburg. The company also announced it will deliver multi-orbit connectivity on JAL’s new 737 MAX fleet from 2026.
