New Pilatus PC-12 NG owners now have the opportunity to get their turboprop online. The Gogo AVANCE L3 system will fly as a factory-installed option for new Pilatus customers going forward. The PC-12 is the first single-engine turboprop to have L3 available from the factory.
Our customers enjoy having the ability to be connected when they fly and we’re pleased to offer Gogo’s AVANCE L3 as an option from the factory. The additional value added features and benefits that are included as part of the AVANCE L3 made it an easy decision to offer it to our customers from the factory.
– Tom Aniello, Vice President of Marketing for Pilatus
The AVANCE L3 offering brings a flexible connectivity platform to the aircraft. In addition to 3G speeds connected to the ground for email connectivity additional services can be included in the service package. On-board apps such as moving maps and weather data are available. News clips from digital magazines are also included in the offering. For an additional fee Gogo’s Text & Talk connectivity plan lets passengers use their cell phone for calls or SMS messaging as though they are on the ground. Movies and TV shows are also available via the Gogo Vision service, also integrated into the L3 platform; content licensing fees apply.
Pilatus’ selection of Gogo AVANCE L3 is a great step forward with a valued partner who recognizes the value of our software-centric AVANCE platform and the reliability and performance of the Gogo Biz network.
– Mark Sander, vice president of OEM sales for Gogo
The Gogo Vision solution is a strong part of the AVANCE platform’s success for the company. In the most recent quarterly earnings call CEO Oakleigh Thorne pointed out that new AVANCE installations are receiving a 90 day free trial to Gogo Vision. That is converting to a 50% take rate in paid subscriptions for the service. Activating Gogo Vision is a remote management task making it an easier sales delivery for the company and for customers.
Gogo expects that 2019 revenue growth in the BizAv segment will be “largely driven in recurring service revenue” including AVANCE systems installs, according to CFO Barry Rowan.
Pilatus is the sixth OEM making the AVANCE system available as a line-fit option. As of the end of Q1 2019 Gogo had 187 L3 customers active and paying for the inflight connectivity service.
