It is, most likely, the largest inflight connectivity company you’ve never heard of. But Saudi Arabia’s Neo Space Group (NSG) expects to quickly raise its profile over the year ahead. The company is moving rapidly to establish a foothold in the industry, and early signs of success are evident.
We’ve taken quite a different approach to serving customers who, as you rightly put it, are generically unhappy. Part of that is all about the amount of bandwidth per aircraft so that people get a proper user experience. But it is also about the way you manage the customer experience. – Martijn Blanken, Neo Space Group CEO
Backed by the Saudi Government’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), NSG was tasked with finding compelling use cases for the SaudiGeoSat 1 Ka-band payload. It offers significant Ka-band capacity, as well as a relatively broad coverage footprint, stretching from the coast of India across most of Europe and Northern Africa. Given the density of commercial air traffic in the region, as well as anticipated growth, NSG decided that IFC was a market worth pursuing.

In addition to its in-house capacity, NSG will participate in the SES OpenOrbits effort. This combines the capacity and regulatory authorities of multiple carriers around the globe, stitching together a coverage footprint to serve nearly every flight route.
And with that capacity and coverage footprint, the company secured orders from airlines in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Those deals come with a backlog of more than 300 aircraft.
NSG is partnering with other industry leaders to bring its solution to market. That includes Display Interactive for digital touchpoints. On the hardware side of things, NSG is working with the Airbus HBC+ program (presumably as a sub of SES), Safran, Eclipse, and others to provide multiple hardware options for fleet integration.

NSG declined to name any specific customers at this time. But with the APEX EXPO event next week perhaps an announcement or two will be public soon enough.
