The idea of retrofitting an embedded inflight entertainment system into a fleet of 737-400 aircraft is not one that is likely to please the accounting department. High costs and a limited aircraft lifetime to amortize the expense make it a nonstarter for most airlines. But upstart Canadian leisure operation OWG, part of the Nolinor group, wants to make sure its passengers are entertained on flights to Cuba this winter. Enter the Bluebox Wow streaming IFE solution.
In the current climate, so much focus is rightly on passenger safety on board. But when we announced OWG, I said our goal is to get travellers excited again. With Bluebox Wow offering movies and other entertainment, passengers can look forward to their time on board being a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
– Marco Prud’Homme, President of OWG and Nolinor Aviation
The Bluebox Wow deployment will include feature films and TV content for passengers. It allows for app-free playback on travelers personal electronics during the flight.
Every new deployment is positive for us but this one is particularly special given the state of our industry this year – being part of a new airline intent on providing passengers an exceptional experience on board as they head off to much-anticipated holidays in the sun is very exciting.
– Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox
OWG, short for Off We Go, took shape in July 2020 as a distinct subsidiary of Canadian charter specialist Nolinor. It also established strategic alliances with Hola Sun Holidays and its sister company Caribe Sol in Quebec to offer direct and dedicated flights to Cuba, with holiday destinations including Cayo Coco, Holguin, Santa Clara and Varadero.
The streaming IFE offering from Bluebox joins a refreshed aircraft interior that also includes refreshed sidewalls, LED lighting and the ultralight Expliseat TiSeat option for the 158 passengers on board.
