Qatar Airways will add a caviar (Qaviar??) service in its business class cabin, delivering a bit more of a premium touch on board. The service is available on 13 routes, taking flight from 15 August.
The introduction of caviar service, commonly available only in first class cabins, further elevates Qatar Airways’ award-winning business class experience. – Xia Cai, Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Product Development and Design
The carrier will retain its dine-on-demand offering in flight and passengers can choose to enjoy the caviar service as a standalone experience or part of a multi-course meal. It will be offered with traditional sides and toppings; bring your own pringles if that’s your preferred approach.
Where it is offered by other airlines, caviar is traditionally served in the first class cabin. That Qatar Airways is bringing it to business class, even if only on a subset of routes, is a notable (and expensive) play. Whether it shifts passenger demand remains to be seen.
The offering will initially focus on key business travel markets: Boston, Dallas, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Sydney, and Washington.
Upgrades for kids, too
Qatar Airways has also now been announced as the launch partner for the updated FlightPath3D Kids Map interface.

Announced at AIX in Hamburg earlier this year, the updated Kids Map interface brings a simpler interface to the moving map and adds games to keep younger travelers engaged. Whether exploring the globe by solving a jigsaw puzzle or testing their knowledge with a memory game tied to a city’s theme, kids will learn about the various places an airline serves while being entertained in the air. In addition, airlines can customize the content, leveraging partner assets in tiles or images for sponsorship tie-ins.
Xia Cai, SVP Product Development at Qatar Airways, notes, “Being the first-to-market for FlightPath3D’s newest Kids Map is a testament to our commitment in being an industry leader across all service points. With this new addition, we are confident that exploring the world onboard Qatar Airways will now be more fun and engaging than ever for our young travelers.”
