As Riyadh Air inches towards its first flights the carrier continues to announce supplier partners to fill out its product portfolio. The carrier will partner with FlightPath3D to introduce the next generation of the inflight map experience on its 787-9 fleet.
The updated, immersive platform delivers a new visual design built on real-time flight data, combined with visual storytelling throughout the travel experience.
Leaning into the “digitally native airline” approach, the carrier will extend the map engagement into its app and on-board Wi-Fi portal. This allows the companies to integrate additional features, such as the Destination Reels content for rich visual storytelling.
Speaking to the partnership, FP3D president Duncan Jackson notes, “Riyadh Air challenged us to reimagine what an inflight map could be.” The program was not simply delivering an off-the-shelf product to the carrier, but an iterative process, developing a solution “both innovative and beautiful” and “an experience that informs and inspires, aligning perfectly with Riyadh Air’s forward-thinking approach.”
The companies also note that the deal represents not just a one-time purchase of services, but a long-term partnership. They expect the map and associated content to evolve, particularly as Riyadh Air plans a rapid expansion following service launch, expected later this year.
