Royal Jordanian is moving forward with plans to update inflight internet service on its 787 fleet. The carrier first announced its intentions to fit 40 planes with Viasat’s Ka-band service nearly a year ago.
The planned modifications to upgrade and standardize internet connectivity services on our 787 fleet will enable us to provide an enhanced on-board experience for our passengers. – Mohammad Maayta, Head of Engineering and Maintenance at Royal Jordanian
While the new deliveries – 787-9s, Embraer E2s, and Airbus A320neo jets – are joining the fleet with the service on board the 787-8 fleet requires a retrofit. Boeing Services will perform that work under a deal announced this week at MRO Middle East. Boeing Services will also handle ongoing Component Services and Landing Gear parts programs for the carrier.
The companies did not share a timeline for the 787-8 work. The company currently owns seven of the smaller Dreamliner aircraft, with another six of the 787-9 model on order.
