India’s Vistara has big plans as it aims to bring the 787 Dreamliner into its fleet later this year. What passengers experience on board, however, will not quite be exactly what the press releases have suggested to date, at least not when it comes to the inflight map.
In September 2019 Vistara announced that its 787s would feature the new Arc inflight map option from Panasonic Avionics. At that time Chief Commercial Officer Sanjiv Kapoor noted, “Innovation and thoughtfulness are the core values of Vistara. Introducing the Arc Inflight Map Platform and Games with Panasonic’s expert capabilities reinforces our commitment to leverage cutting-edge technology for providing a seamless and enjoyable travel experience to our customers.”
What he did not share, however, is that the company’s initial 787 deliveries would not feature the Arc solution. In fact, Vistara won’t even be the first airline to have the Arc maps on board.
