AJet is bringing its fleet online. The Turkish airline will add in-flight connectivity, delivered by TCI Aircraft Interiors. Network traffic will be carried on TurkSat’s Ka-band satellites across the carrier’s route map.
TCI’s role represents an expansion of the service offerings provided by the Turkish Airlines subsidiary. The company initially focused on seats before expanding into on-board entertainment offerings.
TCI will lean on partners to assist with parts of the implementation. This includes Hughes Networks for supplying “equipment and advanced inflight connectivity management capabilities.” The solution will use ThinKom‘s ThinAir Ka2517 antenna.
AJet previously operated as AndoluJet, serving as the domestic and regional arm of Turkish Airlines based at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, on the Asian side of Istanbul. It remans a wholly owned subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, but now operates on its own AOC. The contract covers 122 planes; the carrier operates a fleet of 84 single-aisle planes today, split between Boeing and Airbus.
