
Ava Airways wants to be the flag carrier of the Dominican Republic. The company has been working for several years to build the necessary operational and route structure to serve the Caribbean market and beyond. COVID got in the way, delaying launch plans. But the company continues to move forward. And when it does launch passengers will have access to streaming entertainment thanks to a new contract signed with streaming IFE provider Moment.

Company CEO Olivier Arrindell is not shy about the grand expectations he has for the airline. The proposed route network crisscrosses the Caribbean, with flights planned on an A320 fleet.
It could eventually stretch to Europe and Africa, with the A330 as Ava’s long-haul backbone.

Arrindell has teased premium benefits like chauffeur service for business class passengers to and from its hub at Santo Domingo. Wines have been sourced from France to help fill the catering trolley.
And when flights launch – now expected in 2022 – the Flymingo Box wireless IFE solution will deliver an innovative on-board experience.
Flymingo offers entertainment content, real-time travel information, and a cutting-edge e-commerce platform.

What exactly that looks like remains to be seen. But the contract includes content sourcing and licensing, allowing the Flymingo Box solution to deliver streaming video for passengers.
Ava will also take advantage of the ancillary revenue opportunities from on-board shopping. And the contract includes expansion of the offering to the A330 fleet when that comes online.
