The upcoming flydubai 787s will carry Panasonic Avionics‘s Astrova inflight entertainment system on board. The deal, announced at the 2025 Dubai Air Show, calls for nose-to-tail IFE on the upcoming fleet of 30 Dreamliners.
Astrova gives us the platform to offer richer content, smarter personalisation, and a more intuitive yet familiar interface that truly elevates the journey. We’re excited to bring this next generation of inflight entertainment to our customers on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner when it joins our fleet. – Daniel Kerrison, SVP of Inflight Operations at flydubai
The Astrova implementation includes 4K OLED HDR10+ displays across a range of sizes in the three (economy, premium economy, business) classes of service planned for the flydubai 787s. Business class will top out at 22″ for the entertainment displays.

All the screens on board are also slated to offer Bluetooth headset pairing and up to 67 W of USB-C power at every seat.

Speaking to the deal, Hernan Abbes, Vice President of Global Sales at Panasonic Avionics added, “Astrova has been designed to deliver a fully immersive and unparalleled entertainment experience, while Converix will enable flydubai to maximize digital engagement, drive loyalty economics and improve operational efficiencies. We are proud that Panasonic Avionics’ solutions will play a key role in helping one of the fastest growing airlines in the Middle East deliver the highest levels of service, comfort, and engagement to its passengers.”
The system will also take advantage of PAC’s recently announced Converix inflight application hosting platform. Converix acts as a data and processing hub on board, hosting the IFE system, of course, but also other third-party solutions.

This can include cabin crew applications, aircraft data monitoring, galley inventories, and more.
The flydubai announcement follows Emirates’ similar news of selecting Astrova for its next tranche of A380 and 777 retrofits, joining the fleet from the back half of 2026.
