The first line-fit option for the Gogo Galileo LEO service will be from Textron, on the Cessna Citation Longitude, Citation Latitude and Citation Ascend business jet lines. The companies announced the deal at the opening of the NBAA event in Las Vegas this week.
We are honored to work with Textron Aviation to deliver Gogo Galileo HDX to its customers. Designed specifically for small to super midsize aircraft, the HDX antenna offers passengers a great inflight Wi-Fi experience.
– Sergio Aguirre, president and COO of Gogo
Textron will allow customers to select the smaller HDX antenna as an option for their aircraft, allowing it to be delivered from the factory with the satellite connectivity service provisioned. The move is the latest step in Gogo’s push to bring its satellite-based high-speed inflight internet services to a broader range of aircraft.
The HDX terminal is the smaller, half-duplex option from Hughes Networks. Gogo has an exclusive contract for the Hughes ESA antenna systems in the BizAv segment through the end of the decade.
Gogo recently announced the installation of an HDX terminal on its test aircraft, as well as a significant capacity purchase agreement from Eutelsat OneWeb to power the Galileo service. The company still expects commercial launch of the product before the end of the year.
