Getting the Starlink inflight internet service installed on a G650 has been possible for about a year with an STC from Nextant Aerospace. Starting today that opportunity expands to installations handled directly by Gulfstream. The company announced STC approval from the FAA for its in-house install plans.
Having the capability to install this connectivity upgrade at our own facilities, in the hands of our trusted team of experts, is part of our ongoing commitment to our customers. – Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support
The business aviation market is a strong growth area for Starlink, with multiple service providers offering STC and installation services across an ever-growing range of jet families. That includes Gulfstream’s plans to expand its offerings. As part of the announcement the company indicated it is pursuing similar supplemental type certificates from the FAA for the G800, G700, G600, G500, G400, G280, GIV, GIV-X, GV and GV-SP.

The radome for this Gulfstream STC looks different than the ‘vented’ one (along the sides) on the Nextant STC version. Why the difference? Is there an advantage to one design over the other?
