Inmarsat continues to demonstrate its power in the business aviation satellite-base connectivity market. The company announced its 1000th installation on the Jet ConnecX platform, backed by the GX Aviation Ka-band satellite constellation.
The milestone, celebrated at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, coincides with the fifth anniversary of Jet ConneX service.
We have experienced a rapid surge in demand for the fast, reliable and consistent inflight Wi-Fi that only Jet ConneX can deliver, wherever and whenever they fly. We believe this is a long-term trend that won’t level off as we come out of this COVID era.
– Kai Tang, Inmarsat’s Head of Business Aviation
Half of the installations fly on Gulfstream aircraft. The companies celebrated 500 total installs earlier this year.
A recent survey commissioned by Inmarsat and Corporate Jet Investor (CJI) found that almost 80% of respondents around the world believe more frequent business aviation flights will be taken in the next year. A staggering 90% also feel online activities will dominate principals’ time in the air, almost evenly split between business and leisure.

The JetConneX platform averages 15 gigabytes of data consumed per flight hour across the install base, according to the company.
The Jet ConneX platform will continue to benefit from Inmarsat’s investments in the GX constellation, including plans to reach 12 total satellites – and north pole coverage – by 2023.
