
Lufthansa Group will fit its entire fleet with Starlink’s inflight internet service, adding another 850-ish planes to the SpaceX backlog. The companies anticipate the first aircraft to be fitted before the end of the year, with the group-wide, fleet-wide rollout completed by 2029.

As with other Starlink implementations the service will be complimentary on board, albeit requiring a “Travel ID” account registration. This is akin to the loyalty program requirement implemented by most other Starlink airlines.
Lufthansa Group’s announcement comes just weeks after IAG made similar news, also planning a group-wide deployment. All told, more than 1,500 aircraft across Europe (LH Group, IAG, Air France, SAS, airBaltic) are now contracted for the Starlink IFC system.
