Saudia will bring lie-flat seats to the premium cabin of its A321XLR fleet. The carrier unveiled its new product – based on the Thompson Aero Vantage Solo – at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai this week.
We at Saudi Airlines are committed to finding new and innovative ways to improve the experience of guests on board our aircraft. We believe that the new Vintage Solo seat will enhance the levels of comfort, privacy and luxury that characterize Saudi Airlines. The addition reflects In Business Class, we remain committed to developing our products and services to provide an exceptional travel experience supported by the latest world-leading technology. – Captain Ibrahim Al-Kashi, CEO of Saudi Airlines
The seat includes an 18″ entertainment screen, including Bluetooth headphones pairing. That system will be delivered by Panasonic Avionics, a deal announced in November 2021 at the Dubai Air Show. Economy class passengers will fly in Safran‘s Z400 seat, fitted with 13″ personal entertainment screens.
Saudia also previously announced the planes would be fitted with Inmarsat’s GX Aviation solution for inflight connectivity.
The Vantage Solo is also flying as the Mint premium cabin on JetBlue‘s newest A321neo and A321LR aircraft. Similar to JetBlue’s configuration, Saudia will offer a more premium seat layout at the bulkhead row. No details were available on how that would be priced, however.
The airline expects to receive the first of fifteen A321XLRs on order in 2024, with the full complement delivered by 2026. The aircraft is expected to serve a range of destinations in Europe, the Indian subcontinent and Africa, including Milan, Barcelona, Brussels, Rome, the Maldives, and Dakar.
