Back in Business: A transcon trip in the American Airlines A321T

25 July 2022 By Seth Miller 1 Comment

Is $50/hour a fair price to pay for upgrading to a business class seat? American Airlines suggested that price to me last week, and after a long couple days of work north of Los Angeles I took the offer. With a transcon flight home ahead, I figured the extra space and comfort would be worthwhile. It was a pleasant and comfortable trip, though the A321T fleet is starting to show its age.

How sideways can you sit?

15 December 2021 By Seth Miller 1 Comment

Direct-aisle access on single-aisle aircraft without loss of business class density is a key selling point on the Vantage Solo seat from Thompson Aero

When it comes to flying, seats generally face forward. There are a few that face backward, typically reserved for premium cabins,. And then there are the sideways seats. Including one that might soon fly even more sideways than before.

JetBlue’s Mint Studio to London: Most of the premium, none of the crowd

25 August 2021 By Seth Miller 5 Comments

My main course choices, including Chicken Milanese, Cavatelli, and Roasted Carrots

With half of the aircraft space devoted to the Mint business class cabin it is clear that JetBlue wants to win over the premium travel market to London. And while loads are light as service ramps up (and COVID continues to impact international travel rules), the on-board offering represents well versus the competition.

7 January 2021 By Seth Miller Leave a Comment

The new Thompson Aero Vantage Solo seat could be a common sight on planes in the coming years, but the company, like so many others, must first get through the COVID crisis
