It is not just an inflight entertainment company. Barcelona-based Immfly calls itself a cabin digitalization platform, touching on entertainment, advertising, on board sales, and more. And now it has some extra cash in the bank to help develop those products. The company announced this morning that HorizonX, the innovation and venture arm of Boeing, made a strategic investment to help fund Immfly’s growth.
Boeing’s strategic investment in Immfly drives innovation across the entire passenger journey. Immfly’s digital cabin solution is fundamentally changing how airlines around the world are engaging with their passengers during flight.– Brian Schettler, senior managing director for Boeing HorizonX Ventures
The Immfly platform started as a streaming inflight entertainment solution but in recent years it has expanded to handle a number of other digital services. The revenue-focused aspect of Immfly’s more recent developments branched out from the hardware and entertainment towards consultative services and advertising optimization in its Adsfly offering.
Immfly Executive Chairman Jimmy Martinez von Korff adds that the investment is expected to help the company significantly on the global services front, especially as it seeks to expand airline earnings. “This investment will help further establish Immfly as the industry’s leading partner for pioneering cabin digitalisation and reinforce our ability to provide global services. Boeing and Immfly share a common vision to continue growing the digital capabilities provided to airlines to enhance their onboard experience and develop new revenue streams.”
Immfly is only the fourth non-US company that HorizonX invested in. It joins companies in the satellite communications, 3D printing, and unmanned aircraft verticals as part of the HorizonX portfolio.
The companies did not disclose details about the size of the investment.
