An Avianca A319 (N726AV) is one of the first 10 in the carrier’s fleet to fly with the new multi-orbit inflight internet solution on board.
Avianca’s new inflight internet service, formally announced last week, will be powered by the SES multi-orbit offering. The carrier joins the growing group of airlines implementing the low-profile electronically steered antenna solution.
At Abra Group, we continue to bring next-generation solutions onboard to make connectivity more accessible and offer more options to our passengers.
– Francisco Raddatz, Chief Procurement Officer of Abra Group
The first ten A320 family aircraft have been fitted with the Gilat (née Stellar Blu) Sidewinder terminal. Ultimately, more than 100 aircraft are covered in the deal. This includes other airlines in the Abra Group, GOL and Wamos Air.
Speaking to the deal, SES VP Global Airline Partnerships Enrique Villasenor added, “Abra Group’s commitment to passenger experience will now include consistent reliable, multi-orbit satellite connectivity on its Airbus and Boeing fleet that provides the same fast and dependable internet access passengers enjoy at home no matter where or when they fly.”
