
Airbus made a bit of news last month, announcing plans to add the Chinese Spacesail (Qianfan) LEO constellation to its HPCplus portfolio. The deal will see the low Earth orbit constellation available across Airbus aircraft as the company expands its managed inflight connectivity services to include Ku-band networks.
The Ku-band HBCplus offering is delayed, unfortunately, owing to troubles getting a terminal fully developed and certified. Back in mid-2023 it was expected to be entering service roughly now. Efforts continue on that front, however. And with that progress come questions about access to inflight internet services over China and beyond.
