Destination Stories, delivering destination content to in-seat entertainment screens, is now flying. The FlightPath3D product was announced last September and recently entered service with JetBlue as the first airline deployment.
While neither company drew attention to the service launch, it was spotted on multiple aircraft and aircraft types in recent weeks, suggesting this is a full deployment, not a small trial program.
JetBlue is a relatively recent customer for FlightPath3D, switching to the company’s moving map platform from the Thales GeoFusion solution in September 2024 owing to issues with the display of Israel. In the couple years since, however, it is clear that JetBlue intends to take full advantage of the new map’s various layers and other capabilities.
Destination Stories extends the FP3D Destination Reels and Destination Guide concepts, bringing more content to the embedded IFE market, rather than just personal devices. Backed by Luci, FlightPath3D’s AI-powered travel companion, Destination Stories presents passengers with curated collections of video content, focused on local tips and highlights, integrated within the map.

The platform also presents opportunities for airline-branded content and partnerships. This enables monetization and personalization opportunities for airlines, something FP3D has been working towards on its platform for several years now.
This is also an area where JetBlue has significant potential. Paisly, its in-house travel agency, can be leveraged to establish and manage the partnerships and content distribution to optimize value and reach via the IFE platform.

As an aside, the carrier still shows LAX as a focus city in the maps, a designation which is likely a surprise for many at the company.
