More small and mid-size business jets will soon have access to Starlink’s inflight internet service. Embraer and Nextant, the engineering arm of Flexjet, will offer certification and installation of the aftermarket solution for Praetor 600, Praetor 500, Legacy 500, and Legacy 450 jets.
We’re excited to bring Starlink’s cutting-edge, high-speed internet to our customers. This builds on our ongoing efforts, strengthening our commitment to seamless, connected flight experiences around the world.
– Marsha Woelber, Vice President, Customer Support & Aftermarket Sales for Executive Jets, Embraer Executive Jets
Nextant and Flexjet first announced the intention to install Starlink on its fleet – including the Praetors and Phenom 300s – in September 2023. That effort started with the larger Gulfstream jets. Now Nextant is moving on to the smaller aircraft, managing the STC process with the FAA.
Embraer will facilitate installations for non-Flexjet aircraft using the Nextant STC at the manufacturer’s Embraer Owned Service Center Network. Nine locations are available globally to perform the work.
Certification from the FAA is complete for the Praetor 500 and Legacy 450 fleets. Nextant anticipates receiving FAA certification for the Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 Q3 2025, followed by ANAC certification in Q4 2025 and EASA certification in Q1 2026.
Both companies will also continue work on a Starlink Supplemental Type Certificate for the Phenom 300 jets. That is expected to be approved by the FAA and available for installation in Q4 2025.
