Perhaps not entirely on purpose, but LATAM and Embraer unveiled details around inflight internet plans when showing the first E195-E2 for the carrier to media this week.
In the panning shot of the aircraft at the Embraer facility in Sao Jose de Campos the Gilat Sidewinder terminal can be clearly seen on the aircraft. The multi-orbit inflight internet system on board will be powered by SES via that terminal.
SES (Intelsat at the time) previously secured a commitment for LATAM’s Airbus single-aisle fleet. Similarly, Embraer and SES (Intelsat at the time) previously announced plans to achieve line-fit installation of the equipment.
This deal extends and aligns with those prior announcements.
