NetJets will fit more than 600 business jets with the Starlink inflight internet service. The multi-year deal calls for the fitting of aircraft in the group’s US and Europe-based fleets.
The company expects to equip the aircraft quickly, completing the deployment by the end of 2026.
In the US NetJets will install Starlink on:
- Cessna Citation Latitudes
- Embraer Praetor 500s
- Cessna Citation Longitudes
- Bombardier Challenger 350s
- Bombardier Challenger 650s
- Bombardier Global aircraft
In Europe the deal covers:
- Bombardier Challenger 650s
- Bombardier Global aircraft
The deal appears to displace the February 2024 plan for those same planes to install Gogo’s 5G and Galileo solutions, bringing a two decade business partnership to a close, dramatically trimming the fleet committed to Gogo.
At that time NetJets indicated it would upgrade more than 450 aircraft to Gogo‘s AVANCE L5 platform. Aircraft would then be upgraded to the 5G offering, which was expected to be online by the end of 2024 when the deal was signed. It also included an option for Gogo Galileo, the LEO satellite solution. That was also anticipated to enter service in late 2024 when the announcement was made.
Delays in chip development pushed the 5G service out to a Q1 2026 expected availability. Flight testing finally commenced last month to bring that system into service.
Update (10 December 2025 5p EST):
In an SEC filing Gogo states “The Company’s contract and existing business with NetJets currently remain fully in place, and the Company looks forward to potential opportunities to keep collaborating and to attract new business from NetJets. NetJets has confirmed continued support of our Gogo Galileo products and 5G.”
Reviewing the aircraft types committed to Starlink against the NetJets fleet it appears Gogo may be retaining the Phenom 300s, as well as the Citation XLs and Sovereigns. That would represent just over 200 aircraft, less than half of what was originally planned.
