One of the more comfortable single-aisle aircraft is getting a production boost at the A220 adds a final assembly line at the Airbus facility in Mobile, Alabama. Orders or options for nearly 200 of the larger –300 series model from US-based carriers are currently on the books, though the 40 frame order for Republic Airways was finally scrapped this week.

Two new A220 customers are talking up some details on their plans for the type as well. JetBlue announced that its upcoming deliveries would be fitted with the Viasat inflight wifi solution, similar to that on the rest of the carrier’s planes. And startup airline Moxy talked a lot about the flexibility and range that the A220 gives it, making it the smart choice for a new airline to begin operations.

A new business class seating concept from Singapore’s AirGo could deliver an optimized cabin configuration with the inboard and outboard seats at different angles relative to the direction of travel. The window seats can include a moveable divider for couples or families and deliver an increased density in the cabin without cutting the bed size. There’s even an option for a bar as part of the layout.

United Airlines‘ first CRJ550 – an updated, 50-seat interior version of the CRJ700 – returned to the fleet this week. The plane has 10 first class seats and significant bag storage to avoid gate-checked bags, as well as inflight connectivity, unique in a 50-seat regional jet.

Finally, British Airways began its A350 era, with the first aircraft now flying between London and Madrid for crew familiarity training. Reviews so far appear to be very positive. Long-haul operations begin next month to Dubai.
