ThinKom expanded its commercial aviation sales and marketing team with the hiring of industry stalwart Jeff Sare. Sare serves as the company’s Chief Commercial Officer – IFC, a newly created role.
“I am honored to join the team that consistently sets the industry standard for performance and reliability in commercial aviation satcom terminals – delivering excellence across all service providers, network operators, spectrums, orbits, and airframes.” said Sare.
Sare most recently served as President of Intelsat‘s Commercial Aviation efforts. He has also held senior IFC roles at Panasonic Avionics and Inmarsat. Sare reports to ThinKom CEO Mark Silk.
Less clear with the move is if ThinKom intends to change its approach to the market. With ThinKom’s efforts to commercialize the ThinAir Plus terminal, including muti-constellation support, one could reasonably assume that the company is keen to sell its kit directly to airlines, allowing them to manage the multiple supplier contracts rather than being tied to one with the hardware deal. That would be a significant shift from today, where it sells via network operators or the Airbus HBCplus program.
