Last September La Compagnie announced that its new A321neo fleet would include lie-flat beds and inflight wifi delivered by Viasat. At the time Jean Charles Périno, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, stated that the carrier would deliver “unlimited Wi-Fi access at a fraction of the cost of competitive solutions.” Today we have a number to put with that claim: Free.
With delivery of the first aircraft set for May 2019 and entry into service on 6 June the carrier is offering a few additional details on the plans. Among them, complimentary wifi on board.
The decision to offer every passenger free and unlimited access to the internet was obvious. We want our passengers to experience the internet just like they do at home or in the office. Our mission is to make business-class more accessible to everyone at the most attractive fare.– Jean Charles Périno, EVP of Sales and Marketing for La Compagnie
In addition to the updated start date for the A321neo service La Compagnie also announced a seasonal increase in flights between Paris and Newark. With three aircraft available (two 757s and one A321neo) the carrier will fly twice daily to Paris and five days a week to Nice. On the days that the 757 is not flying from Nice it will now make an extra trip from Paris to Newark.
The A321neo service was originally tipped to begin in April 2019. The two month delay is unlikely to have a material impact on the carrier’s operations. The Nice service will still begin in May, with Paris generally flying only once daily until the additional aircraft is online.
Joining the upgraded seats and wifi service on the new La Compagnie A321neo fleet is the latest generation of Zodiac’s RAVE inflight entertainment system, including 15.7″ touch screens at every seat.
