Mexico’s Viva will bring its fleet online, selecting SES to provide inflight internet service on board. The offering includes the low-profile Gilat Sidewinder antenna, connecting to the SES GEO satellite constellation as well as LEO services from Eutelsat Oneweb.
Connectivity today is not a luxury – it’s part of how people live, work, and travel. Our goal is to make flying fit seamlessly into our passengers’ digital lives, instead of forcing them to disconnect. With this service, being in the air no longer means being offline.
– Pablo Gómez Gallardo, Chief Digital Officer at Viva
The deal covers Viva’s full Airbus fleet, including 60 A320s and 40 A321s. The carrier has 11 aircraft active today. The balance of installations are expected to be completed “in the coming years.” according to the companies.
Viva is the first airline in Mexico using the SES solution.
