Can an airline deliver a modern and consistent inflight entertainment offering across its fleet without an expensive retrofit program? Jetstar Group is about to find out, in partnership with Bluebox Aviation Systems. The program will see the new Blueview digital passenger experience platform deployed across the Jetstar and Jetstar Asia Airbus fleet to begin, with potential to expand to other aircraft types.
The platform will be marketed to passengers as Jetstar Entertainment and is expected to be launched by Jetstar in the coming months.
We’re delighted now to be delivering to Jetstar the most innovative digital passenger engagement platform on the market today together with our unparalleled customer service and support.
– Kevin Clark, Bluebox CEO
Key to this program is the ability for Blueview to be deployed in two formats. On new Airbus deliveries the Blueview service will run as part of an Airbus Airspace Link installation. This includes the company’s newest A321LR aircraft; the first arrived in Melbourne at the end of July.

On the company’s older A320/A321ceo fleet Blueview will deploy on the Bluebox Wow portable wireless system. The Bluebox Wow implementation will be aircraft powered, avoiding the need to swap boxes out for charging. The Bluebox Wow option allows for a relatively trivial and inexpensive retrofit on to the existing aircraft.
Despite the different hardware implementations, the end user experience should be consistent, regardless of which plane type they board. Passengers will access the Jetstar-branded user interface via browsers on their own devices over a wireless network on board.
“There’s no denying this is one of our most exciting projects to date – not just because of the size of Jetstar’s fleet and it being our first combined deployment of Blueview on both Bluebox Wow and Airspace Link across a fleet, but because once again we are launching another great innovation for Jetstar, as we did when we launched the world’s first iPad IFE solution with Jetstar back in 2011,” said Kevin Clark, CEO at Bluebox.
Blueview was launched as a distinct new brand from Bluebox in June at this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo, marking the evolution and direction of Bluebox’s passenger solutions beyond the provision of more traditional in-flight entertainment. Reflecting a broader industry shift towards increased digitalization of cabin services, the rebranding also makes clear the distinction between Blueview as the software-based solution and the hardware platforms onto which it can be deployed, such as the company’s Bluebox Wow portable wireless streaming system and other third-party hardware such as that provided as part of Airbus Airspace Link.
Blueview offers secure delivery of content, third-party app integration, content management and analytics. Its digital ecosystem also enables airlines to engage with and entertain their passengers on board plus earn ancillary revenue for the airline in the process.
Bluebox was the first provider to deploy on the Airbus Airspace Link platform, previously called Open Software Platform. That installation, delivered to Titan Airways, activated in December 2020.
