Viasat is taking off its speed caps, opening up more bandwidth to more business aviation jets. The company’s Jet ConneX service will now offer a “JetXP” plan, to “deliver a truly seamless experience and support the market’s shift away from empty speed promises.”
The days of speed test decision-making are over. Operators are looking at the overall experience and that’s where JetXP really excels. – Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation at Viasat
Leaning on what the company describes as improved network prioritization and enhancements to the existing satellite capacity, aircraft owners now have another service plan option, one Viasat expects will deliver the desired level of performance.
Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation at Viasat, describes the shift as catering to “Customers savvy enough to understand that speed alone will never meet their requirements and beyond a certain bandwidth threshold, higher speed has little impact on actual passenger experience.”
Viasat also notes that the shift takes advantage of Viasat’s experience and tools for network management, applying them to the GX constellation.

The JetXP service plans will be made available through Viasat’s global network of distribution partners, Collins Aerospace, Honeywell, and Satcom Direct. The companies hope to have the new pricing plans available by NBAA in two weeks.
