The most delivered light business jet for the past seven years has a new option for inflight wifi connectivity. Embraer and Gogo announced approval from the FAA for a Supplemental Type Certification (STC) allowing the installation of the AVANCE L5 solution as a retrofit option. With more than 500 aircraft delivered over the past decade this represents a strong opportunity for the vendor to secure additional subscribers in its business aviation segment.
Gogo’s solutions allow our customers in North America to elevate their travel experience with nonstop connectivity and in-flight entertainment. The AVANCE L5 has been delivering an inflight Wi-Fi experience that has delighted our Legacy and Praetor customers and we’re excited to bring this aftermarket solution to our Phenom 300 customers.
– Johann Bordais, president and CEO of Embraer Services & Support

The AVANCE L5 solution connects to Gogo’s existing 4G air-to-ground network covering the continental US and portions of Alaska and Canada. In addition to passenger connectivity the system can be linked to flight deck applications, allowing for real-time data updates on weather conditions and route adjustments to improve passenger comfort. The AVANCE platform also supports streaming IFE on board, with a subscription model for content that allows travelers to watch movies from an on-board server rather than paying for data consumption to load the content. In recent earnings calls Gogo executives have been bullish on this offering, noting that trial subscriptions are converting to fully paid contracts at a relatively high rate.
Embraer’s certification of Gogo AVANCE L5 is further validation of our ability to offer customers the most advanced air-to-ground technology available today and shows the confidence Embraer has in our AVANCE platform and our 4G network.
– David Salvador, vice president of aftermarket sales for Gogo Business Aviation
The Phenom 300 joins the Legacy 450, Legacy 500, Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 as Embraer biz jet types certified for AVANCE L5 installation.
