HK Express is boosting its onboard retail options, transforming inflight sales into a digital experience. Snacks, souvenirs, and space will all be on sale, buyable with a few taps on a passenger’s personal device.
The carrier’s new “Cabin Connect” platform replaces the aisle cart with a web portal, allowing travelers to browse the full range of offerings at their own pace. The carrier is rolling the service out progressively across its fleet this summer.
The platform is powered by Inflight Dublin‘s Everhub digital ecosystem, managing inventory, promotions, and payments for the carrier. It is a local network – no internet access for travelers – but it delivers digital upgrades that the carrier expects will boost revenues.
One of the more interesting offerings from Cabin Connect is the opportunity for passengers to purchase a seat upgrade during the flight. Pending availability (and a key benefit of the digital platform), passengers can purchase a front row seat once already on board for extra space or to deplane faster at the destination.
A new inflight menu is also part of the offering. Premium branded selections include:
- “Satay King” White Curry Lemongrass Pork Chop Rice—a childhood favorite for generations in Hong Kong
- A-1 Bakery’s Carbonara Pasta
- Pandan Basque Cheesecake by celebrity pastry chef Jimmy Lau
