Airfi is now providing onboard portal services for some AirAsia aircraft

AirAsia selected the AirFi wireless platform to boost inflight retail sales and entertainment options on board. The carrier has long offered a digital on-board experience across parts of its fleet. Plus, a few other airline customers coming online.

Uncertainty around the future of Avianca Brasil is growing as the company faces financial turmoil. Citing an inability to strike a "friendly agreement" for renegotiating aircraft leases the carrier sought protection under Brazilian bankruptcy laws this week. The move comes on the heels of lessors seeking the return of 11 aircraft for non-payment. The potential loss of aircraft is bad for the company and for its passengers, of course. It could also see a long-stalled inflight connectivity deployment finally terminated.

LATAM Brazil picks Gogo 2Ku for connectivity

Brazil is quickly becoming a hot market for inflight connectivity. LATAM is the latest to make a move, announcing today that it will fit 100 of its Brazil-based A320 aircraft with Gogo’s 2Ku solution. Installations will begin in the first half of 2018 and complete in early 2019.
