Last week’s confirmation that SmartSky is delaying activation of its new high speed air-to-ground network to Q2 2020 is somewhat disappointing. But understanding why the schedule slipped should provide better clarity for the company’s customers and investors with respect to future expectations of the service. Company Chairman and CEO Haynes Griffin provided PaxEx.Aero with insight suggesting it is not a systemic issue and certainly not one that the company expects to see repeated.
Well, things are going very well and the network is increasing in size every week. We have this last component that was delayed, but that delay is now behind us. It’s coming off the production line and because most of the rest of the work for our launch network network is complete it’s a very straight path forward to installing that last component into the sites and turning them up.
