JetBlue confirms catering shift for short-haul flights
During the summer of 2019 JetBlue experimented with a new catering process that shifted the cart loads and allowed the company to restock planes less frequently. With nearly 120 test flights complete the company is declaring victory and moving forward with the plan. Before the end of the year expect to see catering trucks visit some JetBlue planes half as often. The news was confirmed by VP Inflight Ed Baklor in an internal video message shared with flight attendants this week.
New ad campaign, new service cuts for JetBlue
Balancing top-notch customer service and amenities and costs is a huge challenge for airlines. JetBlue’s structured cost-cutting program is starting to touch bits that passengers will experience and that could be bad news, especially juxtaposed against a backdrop of the company’s new ad campaign.
United expands stroopwafel catering
United Airlines has heard the stroopwafel pleas. After removing the Dutch treat from its cabins in mid-2018 the carrier reintroduced them in a limited fashion earlier this year. As of 1 July 2019, however, the snacks will be available for economy class passengers on every domestic flight, regardless of departure time.
Pepsi and Pouring: JetBlue switches up inflight catering plans
JetBlue is making two significant changes to its inflight service process in the coming months. The carrier will switch from Coke to Pepsi for the complimentary beverages in “Core” economy class. The carrier will also transition away from the single-serving mini water bottles to a poured offering from 1.5L bottles. The changes will begin to fly in early June 2019.
