
Yes, multi-orbit satellite solutions are the near-term future of inflight connectivity. But multi-beam offerings are set to dominate sales conversations as service providers look to add resiliency, reliability, and flexibility for their airline partners.
First up is Delta Air Lines, with the Hughes Networks solution for its 717s, as well as some new A350 and A321neo aircraft. Hughes’s Reza Rasoulian is not shy about touting his company’s leading position in this evolution. “Everyone talks about multi orbit,” he explained. “We like to say we’re in a world of simultaneous multi orbit.” The first aircraft is expected to enter service later this year.
But those companies are not alone. The Satellite 2025 event in Washington, DC last week was an opportunity to check in with a number of companies, all of which have a version of multi-beam service under development.
