Oneworld will grow once again, with Oman Air now slated to join the alliance from 2024. The carrier’s ascension into the group was formally approved and announced at the IATA Annual General Meeting in Doha this week.
We’re delighted to be joining the world’s foremost airline alliance at a time when demand for travel is on the rise. We look forward to welcoming oneworld members onboard Oman Air to experience the height of Omani hospitality and all that the Sultanate of Oman has to offer in terms of history, culture and natural beauty.
– Oman Air CEO Eng Abdulaziz Al Raisi
Oman Air is a relatively small airline with a small route network. Still, it brings a handful of new destinations to the oneworld network including Duqm and Khasab in Oman and Chittagong (Bangladesh).

It also makes oneworld the only global airline alliance with three members in the Middle East, along with Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian.
With the minimal network expansion and proximity of hubs the value of Oman Air as a new member is somewhat suspect. Then again, more options and partners for passengers is generally a good thing, so long as the alliance-wide benefits are consistently delivered.
Members of Oman Air’s Sindbad frequent flyer programme will be able to earn and redeem miles on all oneworld member airlines, with top tier members receiving additional benefits including lounge access when travelling with other oneworld members. oneworld Emerald, oneworld Sapphire and premium cabin customers will also gain access to three Oman Air lounges at Muscat, Salalah and Bangkok.
Oman Air is the third airline to join the alliance in recent years, following Royal Air Maroc and Alaska Airlines. Qatar Airways will act as sponsor for Oman Air’s entry into oneworld, providing guidance and support as the airline integrates into the alliance.
