British Airways picks 777X as 747 replacement

The Boeing 777X folding wingtip will see plenty of action in one of the world’s busiest airports. International Airlines Group, the parent company of British Airways, announced intentions today to purchase up to 42 777X airplanes, including 18 orders and 24 options.

Singapore Airlines’ first A350 ULR takes the long way home

The first A35-900 ULR delivery to Singapore Airlines took quite the detour, flying nearly polar, similar to the path it will fly to North America in just a couple weeks.

The first A350-900 ULR flew home to Singapore on Saturday. The routing it took was rather less than ordinary, lasting more than 16 hours and included a visit to the North Pole.

Singapore Airlines brings back the nonstop to Newark

Singapore Airlines is reclaiming the role as operator of the world’s longest flight. The carrier confirmed today that it will serve Newark nonstop from its Changi Airport hub using the Airbus A350-900ULR starting in October 2018. That’s nearly 19 hours on board, a trip that requires certain accommodations to keep passengers sane.
