Gogo 5G takes a year delay on additional chip flaws

The Gogo 5G service will, once again, be delayed. The company announced a design error which must be resolved prior to deployment. Gogo 5G is now expected to go live in mid-2024, pending resolution of the chip flaws.

Rolling delays hit inflight connectivity over China

When it comes to inflight connectivity growth opportunity China is hard to ignore. It is a massive market, but one with almost no short-haul aircraft carrying Wi-Fi hardware on board. And despite repeated promises that the online world is finally ready to imminently take flight, at least one supplier is finally backing off the hype and recognizing significant additional delays in getting its systems off the ground.

Hughes signs on as OneWeb partner, launches new IFC options for airlines

Hughes Network Systems is not new to the inflight internet world. But the company is getting more aggressive in its pitch to airlines. Hughes is now a global distribution partner of OneWeb’s LEO constellation services. The deal was announced this week at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2023.

More drama for the Jet It connectivity plans

The Jet It HondaJet fleet - along with the rest of the company's planes - will soon see upgraded inflight wifi on board

Last week fractional jet operator Jet It announced plans to install Gogo’s AVANCE L3 inflight internet offering on board, upgrading and expanding the service available to its customers. Which was particularly surprising given that the company made a similar announcement with SmartSKy nine months prior.
