Eutelsat goes big on Ka-band, dumps ViaSat-3

Major drama in the inflght connectivity world this afternoon as joint venture partners Eutelsat and Viasat are splitting on a major project. Eutelsat is launching KONNECT, its own massive increase in Ka-band capacity in 2021 and has new partners to work with on that deal. Oh, and it is bailing on its potential partnership for the ViaSat-3's EMEA coverage.

United Airlines, Viasat “MAX out” partnership

Inmarsat, Philippine Airlines hit line-fit milestone

Inmarsat’s high speed Global Xpress inflight wifi connectivity solution appears to have reached a significant milestone this week. It is now possible for airlines to have the system installed at the Airbus factory rather than as an after-market alteration.

Aeromexico brings diversity to 737 connectivity

A mostly successful launch for SES, Yahsat, Arianespace

SES and Yahsat have more capacity in the sky thanks to an Arianespace launch last night. The launch suffered from anomalies after the second stage ignition and the satellites were not inserted where initially expected, though both companies report control of their assets.

JetBlue’s A320 retrofit finally underway

The JetBlue implementation of LiveTV4 includes larger, brighter screens, but still not the Android-based underlying OS that makes AVANT so flexible and responsive.

More than two years after initially announced the JetBlue A320 retrofit program is finally underway. The first aircraft is now in the shop and will exit with at least one previously undisclosed surprise on board.
