Delta Air Lines confirms it is “exploring” the option to enable multi-link network connectivity in a first for the commercial aviation world. Developed in partnership with Hughes Networks, the carrier expects to see the service flying in late 2025.
The Hughes Fusion platform has been discussed for some time now, linking multiple terminals to blend capacity across multiple orbital planes. Initially it is expected to pair the company’s Ka-band capacity in GEO orbit with Ku-band LEO capacity via Eutelsat OneWeb. That could expand to other NGSO constellations in the future.
This news confirms expectations from a year ago that the two companies would partner on this development and deployment.
